WyrmRSS
Self-hosted RSS reader with feed discovery, YouTube support, folders, filters and webhooks. Self-host on web, or use the native desktop app.

WyrmRSS is a self-hosted RSS reader and aggregator written in Rust with a React frontend. It subscribes to RSS and Atom feeds, and its feed discovery accepts a plain blog homepage or YouTube channel URL and finds the feed for you. YouTube channels stream in an embedded player inside the reader, and per-feed filters (scoped to URL, title or content) let you cut Shorts, live streams or any matching pattern out of the feed.
Feeds can be grouped into collapsible folders with unread counts, assigned per-feed display modes (River for the home feed, Feed only, or Radar for low-priority feeds), saved to Read Later, or archived. Other niceties include webhooks for Discord, Slack and custom endpoints on new posts, OPML import and export that preserves folders, full-text search, and runtime settings (poll interval, timeouts, page size, reading mode) that hot-reload from the Settings page without a restart.
Where Feedly and Inoreader put your reading list on their servers behind subscription tiers, WyrmRSS keeps everything on hardware you control: deploy with the provided Docker Compose file or Kubernetes manifests backed by PostgreSQL, or run the native desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux, which embeds the server and uses SQLite so there is no separate database or server to set up. A single optional API key protects the instance, and a shared public demo is available at demo.wyrmrss.com.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which platforms does WyrmRSS run on?
You can self-host it with Docker Compose or the provided Kubernetes manifests on any server, or use the native Tauri desktop app for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows and Linux. The desktop build embeds the server and uses SQLite, so no separate database or backend is needed.
Can I import my existing subscriptions into WyrmRSS?
Yes. WyrmRSS supports OPML import and export, and folders you have grouped your feeds into are preserved across the round-trip.
Can I follow YouTube channels in WyrmRSS?
Yes. Add a channel using its YouTube feed URL (youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=CHANNEL_ID) and Wyrm detects YouTube links, rendering an embedded player in place of the article body. Per-feed filters like url:/shorts can exclude Shorts or live streams.
How do I protect a self-hosted WyrmRSS instance?
Set the WYRM_API_KEY environment variable on the backend, and clients will be prompted for the key on first use. If it is left unset the API is open and any key entered in the prompt is accepted. Baking the key into the frontend build skips the prompt entirely.
Does WyrmRSS support notifications or integrations?
Webhooks are built in: when a new post arrives, WyrmRSS can notify Discord, Slack or any custom endpoint. There is no plugin system, but the API-key-protected API allows other integrations.
