Kavita
Self-hosted, cross-platform reading server for manga, comics, and ebooks with responsive web readers and an OPDS feed.
Open source alternative to:
Kavita is a self-hosted reading server for managing and reading manga, webtoons, comics, and ebooks from your own library. It supports a wide range of file formats including CBZ, CBR, ZIP/RAR/RAR5, 7zip, EPUB, and PDF, and runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and as a Docker container.
The web reader is fully responsive and adapts to any screen size, with specialized modes for webtoons (vertical scrolling), continuous reading, and EPUB virtual pages. Kavita also includes rich metadata integration, smart filters, collections, reading lists, multiple users with role-based access, OIDC support, OPDS feeds for external reader apps, customizable theming, and EPUB-based annotations and highlights.
Kavita is free, open-source, and self-hostable, making it a popular replacement for older or proprietary comic and ebook servers. A paid subscription called Kavita+ adds optional premium features like external metadata scrobbling, OPDS metadata feeds, and rich reviews.
