Omnara
Open-source managed agent platform for running AI agents on any model and any machine, self-hostable via Docker.
Open source alternative to:
Omnara is an open-source platform for running AI agents as a hosted service. You define an agent in a YAML config, launch it through the REST API, TypeScript SDK, CLI, or dashboard, and Omnara runs the agent loop: building the model context, calling the model, executing tools, and streaming every event back to your app. Every step is written to Postgres, so an agent survives worker crashes, restarts, and machine disconnects and picks up where it left off.
Agents can use any OpenAI Responses, OpenAI Chat Completions, or Anthropic Messages compatible model, including OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, Amazon Bedrock, LiteLLM, Ollama, and self-hosted endpoints. Tools are pluggable: built-in shell, file, web search/fetch, and ask-a-human tools, plus MCP servers and custom tools that call into your own systems over webhooks. Skills package reusable instructions and files, memory stores give agents files that persist between conversations, and subagents run in fresh contexts that you can inspect. Each tool can be set to run immediately, require human approval, or be blocked.
Compute is separate from the platform. Install the omnarad daemon on a macOS or Linux laptop, VM, or container and agents can run commands there with no inbound ports or SSH keys, or use sandboxes from providers such as Daytona, E2B, Modal, Blaxel, and Freestyle. A single agent can use several machines at once. Omnara integrates with Slack, Discord, and GitHub, supports cron triggers with time zones, and exposes streaming events and webhooks. Teams get organizations, projects, role-based access control, and shared secrets.
Self-hosting is a Docker Compose deployment (API, workers, Postgres, Redis, and blob storage) under the Apache 2.0 license. Omnara Cloud is the managed option, free when you bring your own model keys and machines and pay-as-you-go for Omnara-hosted models and sandboxes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What models can Omnara run agents on?
Any model behind an OpenAI Responses, OpenAI Chat Completions, or Anthropic Messages compatible endpoint. That includes OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, Amazon Bedrock, LiteLLM, Ollama, and models you host yourself. Model providers and models are configured per organization and then shared with individual projects.
Does Omnara have an API, SDK, or CLI?
Yes. There is a REST API defined in an OpenAPI spec, a TypeScript SDK published as @omnara/sdk on npm, and a CLI published as omnara, which manages agents, profiles, machines, model providers, secrets, skills, and cron triggers. Omnara also runs an MCP server that Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other MCP clients can connect to over OAuth.
Can agents run on my own machines instead of cloud sandboxes?
Yes. Install the omnarad daemon on a macOS or Linux laptop, VM, or container and the agent can run commands and edit files there. The daemon connects outbound to Omnara, so no inbound ports or SSH keys are needed. Sandboxes from providers such as Daytona, E2B, Modal, Blaxel, and Freestyle are available as an alternative, and one agent can use several machines at once.
Which integrations does Omnara support?
Slack, Discord, and GitHub are supported out of the box: mention the bot in Slack or Discord to start an agent in a thread, or start one when a pull request opens or someone mentions it on GitHub. Other services can be wired up as custom integrations on the public API. Every agent event can also be consumed through streaming or webhooks.
What are the system requirements to self-host Omnara?
You need Docker with Compose; the provided compose file starts the API, workers, Postgres, Redis, and blob storage. For source development you also need the Go version declared in go.mod plus Node.js 24 or newer with Corepack, ripgrep, and Docker. Production deployments follow a self-hosting guide that covers configuration and exposing the instance on a public URL, which sandboxes require.
