OpenArchiver

OpenArchiver is an open-source platform for legally compliant email archiving, built for organizations that need to retain email for regulatory, legal, or operational reasons. It ingests email from connected mailboxes, indexes every message and attachment for fast full-text search, and provides retention policies, legal hold, audit trails, and export tools out of the box.

Unlike pure cloud services, OpenArchiver is self-hostable and ships with a Docker Compose setup. The platform is built on TypeScript and SvelteKit with PostgreSQL for storage, Redis for caching and queues, and Meilisearch for full-text search. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0, making it a popular open alternative to commercial compliance-focused archiving products such as Mimecast, Proofpoint Archive, and Barracuda Message Archiver.
