Parados
A simple, lightweight home media server for UNIX systems.
Parados is a simple home media server for UNIX systems. It's a lightweight alternative to heavy media servers like Plex and Jellyfin, written primarily in C for performance and minimal resource usage.
Parados comes with protocol documentation, man pages, and two reference clients — gorados, a Go-based web UI, and shrados, a POSIX shell client — allowing users to interact with their media through different interfaces. The server supports platform-specific init scripts (e.g., OpenBSD's rcctl) for easy deployment and process management.
The project follows UNIX philosophy, keeping the core server simple while exposing a documented protocol for building custom clients. It supports HTTPS reverse proxy setups and is designed for self-hosted, privacy-focused media consumption.
