FerrumPix is a desktop application that combines photo management and image editing in a single tool. Browse local folders with fast thumbnails, sort and rate your collection, search by metadata, people, or location, and develop RAW files from the sensor data with lens correction for over 1,300 lenses. Edits to RAW and Photoshop files are stored in non-destructive sidecars, and originals are never modified without an explicit save.

The editor covers crop, resize, perspective correction, exposure and colour adjustments, tone curves, HSL, masks and selections, layers, retouching, text and shapes, filters, LUT files, and XMP presets compatible with Lightroom and Camera Raw. Batch workflows let you rename, convert, resize, watermark, and export entire selections in one run. Optional model files (downloaded on demand) add AI-powered object selection, depth-based blur, object removal, denoising, and upscaling, all running locally on your machine.

FerrumPix connects to self-hosted Immich and Nextcloud servers for browsing, uploading, downloading, editing, and metadata sync. It ships as an AppImage, Flatpak, DEB, RPM, and portable ZIP for Linux, as a setup or portable ZIP for Windows, and as an unsigned app bundle for macOS. The interface is available in sixteen languages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which platforms does FerrumPix support?

FerrumPix runs on Linux (AppImage, Flatpak, DEB, RPM, portable ZIP for x86_64 and ARM64), Windows (setup installer and portable ZIP for x86_64 and ARM64), and macOS (unsigned app bundles for Intel and Apple Silicon). The macOS builds are experimental and may require bypassing Gatekeeper.

What image formats does FerrumPix open and save?

FerrumPix opens JPEG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, GIF, RAW, HEIC/HEIF/AVIF, TIFF (read-only), and Photoshop PSD/PSB files with their layers intact. You can save edits as JPEG, PNG, WEBP, TIFF, PDF, Photoshop files with the layer stack preserved, or as an FPX project file that keeps adjustments and layers editable.

Does FerrumPix work with Immich and Nextcloud?

Yes. FerrumPix connects to a self-hosted Immich server to browse photos and albums, upload and download files, sync ratings, favourites, and keywords, and edit Immich photos with results saved as new assets. It also connects to Nextcloud for browsing, uploading, editing, and writing metadata back to the server, with optional RAW sidecar support.

Can FerrumPix develop RAW files?

Yes. FerrumPix develops RAW files from the actual sensor data with automatic lens correction from measured data covering around 1,300 lenses. Edits are stored in a non-destructive sidecar next to the RAW file, and Lightroom sidecar files with develop settings are converted on import so photos edited elsewhere open as you left them.

What AI-powered features does FerrumPix offer?

With optional model files downloaded on demand, FerrumPix provides object selection by clicking, depth-based blur, object removal with background reconstruction, AI denoising, and upscaling with five models ranging from 2x to 4x. It also supports face detection and grouping for people search, and reverse geocoding for location search. All processing runs locally on your machine.
