FableCut
Zero-dependency browser video editor that AI agents can drive via JSON timeline, MCP, and REST.
Open source alternative to:
FableCut is a Premiere-style non-linear video editor that runs entirely in your browser and exposes its entire timeline as a single JSON document. Edit it by hand, from the UI, or let an AI agent (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, or anything that speaks MCP/REST) cut your video for you while you watch the timeline update live.
The editor supports 4 video tracks and 3 audio tracks with drag/trim/split/snap, beat and cue markers, real decoded audio waveforms, and canvas aspect presets including 16:9, 9:16 reels, 4:5, and 1:1. It includes 12 one-click filter presets, adjustment layers, full grade controls (brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, temperature, tint, blur, vignette, film grain), chroma key with spill suppression, and AI background removal via MediaPipe.
Motion features include keyframe animation on ~25 properties with easing, speed ramps, camera shake, and RGB-split chromatic aberration. Text capabilities cover kinetic captions (typewriter, word-pop, karaoke, wave, bounce, neon glow), Google Font support, gradient fills, and background pills. The unique AI integration lets agents drive the entire editor through MCP tools or REST API, making it possible to automate complex video edits with natural language instructions.
