Floppy

Floppy is a self-hosted, all-in-one media tracker and personal media diary built as a broader alternative to Trakt, Letterboxd, and TV Time. It unifies movies, TV, anime, manga, books, comics, games, board games, music, and podcasts into a single library, a single history, and a single set of stats, so people who want one place for everything they watch, read, play, or listen to do not have to stitch services together.

What it does

At its core Floppy keeps a unified history feed and watchlist across every media type, with a real progress view that tells you what to watch or read next, recap-style statistics, public and private lists with custom slugs, RSS/JSON feeds, and a Trakt-list/watchlist importer. Discover is built on per-user genre, studio, cast, and tag affinity rather than a static recommendations page, and the home screen is fully configurable: rows can come from library queries, custom lists, smart lists, or recently-played-but-unrated content.

It treats music and podcasts as first-class rather than bolt-ons: artist and album pages with discography sync, track-level history and scoring, listening-time stats; dedicated podcast show and episode pages with Pocket Casts account sync as a live integration, not a one-shot import. Anime gets careful separation from general TV — season and episode navigation plus grouped-anime routing for franchise-spanning series. Books get percentage-based reading progress, ISBN/barcode scanning from a photo, and top-authors stats.

Self-hosting and integration coverage

Floppy ships as a single Docker image (ghcr.io/dannyvfilms/floppy) backed by Redis and SQLite by default, with optional PostgreSQL. Self-hosting is the headline use case: a demo instance is available at yamtrack.dannyvfilms.com, the install is one docker compose up -d, and your data stays on your own hardware.

Integrations include Plex (full library import, watchlist sync, ratings sync), Pocket Casts, Last.fm (history import and live scrobble polling), Audiobookshelf, Radarr, Sonarr, and Jellyseerr webhooks. Imports are supported from Trakt, Simkl, MyAnimeList, AniList, Kitsu, Steam, Goodreads, StoryGraph, Hardcover, IMDb, HowLongToBeat, Grouvee, and more. A REST API at /api/v1 and an MCP server are included for third-party tooling.

How it compares to Trakt / Letterboxd / TV Time

Trakt is excellent for movies and TV but has weak support for books, games, music, and podcasts, and you stay on its hosted platform. Letterboxd is purpose-built for film only. TV Time is mobile-first and great for ongoing series but locked to its app. Floppy replaces all three plus a podcast app and a book tracker with one self-hosted web app that you fully own, with CSV export/import so your data is never locked in.

Origins and license

Floppy began as a fork of Yamtrack and has since diverged substantially; the project uses the same data model and CSV format as its predecessor for easy migration. Released under AGPL-3.0.
