Captura is a free, open source Windows screen recording utility that goes beyond just video capture. It records your screen alongside audio, webcam, mouse clicks, keystrokes, and cursor movements — making it ideal for creating detailed software tutorials or bug reports.
Unlike Camtasia, Captura has no licensing cost and outputs to MP4, AVI, GIF, and other formats. The interface is clean and lightweight, with region-capture support so you can record a specific part of your screen rather than the whole display.
Captura is Windows-only and no longer actively maintained, but remains stable and widely used for its straightforward feature set.
